Drawing as a skill

line drawing by Charlotte Rossmann

Drawing is a skill, learned with practice but it's a hell of a way to spend your life.

and as others have said...

“We all have 10,000 bad drawings in us. The sooner we get them out the better.”
― Walt Stanchfield

“If a restaurant offers crayons, I always take them and color throughout the meal. It beats talking to the people I came to dinner with.”
― Stephan Pastis

“But it is a pipe."
"No, it's not," I said. It's a drawing of a pipe. Get it? All representations of a thing are inherently abstract. It's very clever.”
― John GreenThe Fault in Our Stars

“Drawing things makes them seem more real and makes me feel more alive. It also makes me pin down and remember things - landscapes, season, weather, occasions, incidents, people - that would otherwise have melted from my memory.”
― David GentlemanLondon, You're Beautiful: An Artist's Year

“Most people don’t have shit… But paper and pencils are cheap, that’s why I draw.”
― Ida LøkåsDet fine som flyter forbi

“Eventually you will get into the habit of enjoying line as a language all of its own.”
― Margaret StevensAn Introduction To Drawing Flowers
